Wing Suspends Flight Missions Amid Coronavirus Concerns

by Tom Highway

Lt Col Mike Jones, Wing Director of Flight Operations, has announced that all flight operations in the wing will cease effective immediately. “This is not a step we’ve taken lightly,” Jones stated in a press conference. “But with the novel Coronovirus, we just can’t take chances with our aircrews.”

Jones went on to explain that he had received information from a reliable source that 5G cell phone towers caused or enhanced the effects of the Coronavirus. Jones said that he’d consulted with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and they had determined that 5g cell signals reach 90% of the state. “It’s just not worth the risk,” Jones said.

Jones stated that they are investigating ways to protect aircrews so critical flight operations can resume.

“We’re currently working with Cessna,” he said, explaining that because the Civil Air Patrol is Cessna’s largest single-fleet customer, the company had agreed to assign an engineering team to evaluate possible solutions. “We went to them with a proposed solution involving lining the crew cabin of the aircraft with metallic foil. Of course, that won’t work for the windscreens, so for that Cessna is researching a mesh light enough and fine enough to block the millimeter length radio waves used by 5G and allow acceptable outward visibility.”

Jones also said that they were not simply waiting for Cessna, and that research on other possible solutions is being conducted within the Wing. “While Cessna evaluates this solution, we’re testing to see if we can simply line our aircrews’ hats with tin foil to achieve a similar effect.”
